Everyone experiences difficulties in life. Sometimes people have overwhelming problems that they need to solve.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Seattle’s University District. In my work with clients, I provide helpful tools and strategies, and offer my clients a fresh perspective on the issues they may be facing.
I have been working with couples, individuals and families in clinical and research capacities for over 30 years. My areas of practice include couples therapy, individual therapy, and helping families develop parenting plans. I bring my knowledge of research on what actually works to my clinical work with individuals and to my work helping couples have the relationship they want. I also have expertise and experience helping families protect children from the potential negative effects of marital conflict and dissolution.
My clinical work is informed by my scientific research at the University of Washington. As a Research Professor in Child Clinical Psychology and Developmental Psychology at the University of Washington, Associate Director of the University of Washington’s Center for Child and Family Well-Being and Director of the University of Washington's Master's degree in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology, I have published extensively on issues relating to marital conflict, parenting and family relationships (click here for Dr. Katz’s CV). I worked closely with Dr. John Gottman for over 12 years and was centrally involved in the research upon which the Gottman Method of couples therapy is based.
I cultivate a caring, compassionate and respectful approach in our work together. Please call me for a free initial telephone consultation to discuss any questions you may have.
